    reasons your wrong
    1. he didnt make up a word of it
    2. apple made safari before ms pulled ie
3.the ipod has a long time to go their not going to just say screw it when its selling
4.ITMS is making them money after the record companies are paid back for the use of the songs every cent is profit
    5. less than 20 people have signed your petition and do you really think its going to get apple to change their entire strategyi can see it now steve jobs sees our online pettion and immediatly calls a meating "i just had an appihany some kid said to make a cheap computer that hooks up to your tv weve been completely wrong all theese yearsapple is now only going to make web tv type systems and nothing else my god what have i been doing"

I'm not getting into a "your right and Im wrong" discussion. The whole point of this thread is to get Apple to make a cheap Mac so they can tackle the cheap $500 market. Its killing them

I think he did. He said something like "okay, I've read the other side. Now can we go back to talking about my half baked misguided ideas?"

ya i know but i was talking about when i put:

Thats not true ! Ive been reading everyone's posts but you just don't want to see both sides of the story. I just want Apple to do better...

Look at this business weekly online story about Apple - very interesting

    http://www.businessweek.com/technol..._5468_tc056.htm

really, this is what Ive been taking about...I think that most Mac users don't want to hear it

    and this one too

    http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/main...cfm?NewsID=8372

ok, YOU listen to "our side" of the story now!!!!! The point is, apple is NOT dying, they do not need saving, blah blah blah. just read the 100 posts above mine explaining this to you, but you refusing to listen. If you want apple to do better, then think that and leave the rest of us alone. I myself wouldn't mind having more of my contacts using a mac so i wouldn't have to do tech support for them all the time, but then again, that would cut down on people who force money on me for it.

Wow, already up to 75% intel machines. So much for the stupid notion that nobody wants intel because there are still big apps that aren't universal.

No, 75% of Macs sold in the last 3 months were Intels which given that most of the Macs are Intels, isn't that surprising.

The OS X install base has around 940,000 Intel users and several million PPC users

apple created a storefront they called "app store"

amazon creates a store front that does the same t hing called the "appstore"

    apple wins in this situation.

    ding ding ding. I agree.

The store is called the App Store. You can't copy someones store name.

I can't call my store Target or Walmart. The names are already taken and famous. It's like cyber squatting on Madonna.com. you can't b/c madonna is already mega famous. She could just take it from you.

McDonalds can't sue Burger King for the name b/c they are way different but sell similar products.

If Burger Kind called their Store Mcdonalds but put in a lowercase D now I think McDonalds would and should sue the crap out of them.

Reminds me of coming to america. they've got the Big Mac, We've got the big Mic.

Hi everyone, I just recently purchased an Ipod Touch 4G to replace my aging 1G, and have decided to buy a case to help protect my investment (to resell at a later time) this time to avoid the massive damage my 1G went through (long story...it's not pretty anymore, but hey, it does work).

    My requirements are as follows:

-It MUST protect the glass on the front if it were to fall face-down onto a hard surface. Now, I'm not expecting miracles here, but it has to offer some protection for this (if you're wondering, this is what happened to my 1G...).

-It must protect the back from scratches and whatnot, but I assume most cases do this by default...

-It must not compromise any ports/buttons at all.

-It must not be too bulky.

-This isn't a major thing, but I'd like to be able to open it up without too much of a hassle if the need arises.

-I'm looking to spend between $20-25 at most.

Right now, I've narrowed it down to the Griffen Reveal, Switcheasy Colors, and the iFrogz Luxe due to their overall positive reputations. Does anyone have any thoughts on the above 3? Does anyone have any other recommendations that I missed? Thanks.
Griffin Reveal seems nice, plus very customizable. Switcheasy Colors, i love Switcheasy, but the silicone, I just don't like silicone. The Luxe is probably the same protection as the Griffin.

Out of the three, I would suggest the Griffin.

I am waiting for something else from Switcheasy, maybe a TRIM or Rebel.

It was also to get MS to continue making Office for the Mac. The deal also included that Apple put IE on every Mac they sold (I could be wrong on that, correct me if I am.).
You can rewatch the announcement of that at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxOp5mBY9IY.

    Who. freaking. cares.

Honestly, people are so worried about the principle of the matter (I shouldn't have to use a case! I shouldn't have to change how I hold it!) that they've completely missed whether it actually really makes for a worse experience. For me, it absolutely does not.

I also still don't get how CR can give it the highest overall rating and not recommend it.

I don't get how people can get so freaking upset over what CR has to say one way or the other. I mean they come into this thread saying they don't care, but they must to waste their time telling everyone else how much they don't care.

So long as Apple is around, I do not care if they are growing or not, nor do I want the Apple brand to become associated with ****. People already think Macs are inferior to windows... some guy IM'd me earlier today and the discussion turned to computers... I told him I use an Apple Macintosh, his first response is:

    ROFLMAO!!! MACS SUK!!!

disclaimer: I do not actually know this person, somehow they found my AIM SN and IM'd me....

I told him/her a few reasons why macs are better, but he/she wasn't even listening..... I don't want Apple to give basis to his/her argument by making a regular POC like dell, eMachines, or gateway does.....

Geez.... what did they do long ago... have a 400-disc CD changer in their trunk?

    How did they manage?

    :)

Some of us have been on the planet long enough to remember when 8-tracks came to cars that previously only had AM radios. How did we manage? Actually, we got along fined but bringing my own audio along with us just provides more options. Before the iPod, I would typically pick about 15-20 CD's to bring along with me on a road trip. I got along fine, but invariably I would wish that I had made a few different choices, never knowing what mood might strike me. So now I have an 80GB Classic that is about 95% full. Loaded on it are about 11,000 songs, 50-60 podcasts, a couple audiobooks, and maybe a movie or two. Every time the car leaves town, it goes with me. I take it to work every day and plug it into the sound system in my office. I plug it into an old boombox when I am working in the yard or on house projects. I don't need it to surf the web, play games, read email or anything else. It serves my wants perfectly, and though I am not about to claim that I am in the mainstream, I suspect that there are enough of us to keep a device like this profitable for Apple. I've toyed with the idea of selling this one and buying a 160GB but haven't yet. If Apple does choose to make a classic with high capacity, bluetooth, and airplay, I would buy it in a minute.

They just pulled it off their website a few minutes ago but it was a photo of the wireless iPod!

    http://www.apple.com/ipodmobile

I saved a pic of it in my cache and posted for you to see!!!

It does iTunes and video and the screen is enormous!!

Full screen iChat messaging is availble with the built in iSight!

    It is also in black!

    http://daapspace.daap.uc.edu/~wiglemd/wirelessipod.tif

I can't wait to get my hands on one of these, looks great for watching movies.

Genius! Can't believe none of us thought of how to integrate the keyboard. Just make it fold!!

Can't believe they got rid of the click wheel though, although that rectangular thing would probably work the screen pretty well.

ThinkSecret hasn't been right about anything since they got in trouble over leaks.

maybe so. but the lawsuit has been dropped now. maybe they are feeling ok to say the right things now...

Apple has never mentioned the new "Scene Kit" before:

Introduced in Mac OS X v10.7, the Scene Kit framework enables your application to import, manipulate, and render three-dimensional assets. It supports 3D assets imported via COLLADA, an XML-based schema that facilitates the transport of 3D assets between applications. Architecturally, a scene is composed of the 3D entities of cameras, lights, and meshes. Scene Kit lets you access attributes of scene objects—for example, geometry, bounding volume, and material—and is consistent with the APIs of other graphical frameworks, such as Core Animation and Image Kit.

Scene Kit is intended for developers who quickly need to integrate 3D rendering into their applications. It doesn’t require that you have advanced graphical programming skills.

Considering that a 512gb SSD upgrade on one of the new MacBook pros cost an additional $1,200....I doubt that they will show up in the next MacBook air updates. We still have awhile to wait for the prices of these SSDs to come down. Eventually yes...but for now they'll stay out of the reach of most consumers. When the 512gb SSD upgrade costs what the 256gb SSD currently does - about $600 - THEN we will see more people choosing this upgrade.

Ah yes, well a desktop card would be nice. And the 27" does have the room when compared to the 21". They could engineer it in there if they wanted to.

But yes, I share your dream.

The vapor chambers and relatively efficient TDP of the 6950, could be combined with a much needed re-engineered iMac cooling system(the current "slit" the back is silly)...I know I complain too much about this topic...but a 2650x1440 monitor should be powered by a MUCH more substantial GPU

    PS, that isn't hard
I just noticed that you are the same person I just (imho) shredded in two different posts above. Care to make a stand against anything I said as a direct response to your points? Or are you just gonna feed off someone else and reiterate yourself again?

I don't have time to answer your lengthy response point for point at the moment, maybe later tonight.

So, since my subjective opinion means nothing to you, I offer the following reveiw for your consideration from AnandTech. They compare the Apple and Dell 20" monitors. The link is the last page which has the conclusions, you can read the whole thing if you like.

The short of it is, in their technical opinion the Dell is better than the Apple. What's that? A "consumer" monitor is better than a "pro" monitor? Say it ain't so.

    http://www.anandtech.com/displays/showdoc.aspx?i=2400&p=11

So, I'll stick to my guns and say the Apple 20" monitor isn't worth the price they are asking, and they are keeping it high it to encourage iMac purchases over a mini/cinema combo. It's only an opinion. I don't mean to come off like I know more than I do. My opinion is based only on my experiance with both monitors and my own decison making process based on price and budget. Since we can't see the actual sales numbers there is no way to prove/disprove anything.

Oh, and the Dell was purchased for me by my work, the Apple by me for my home.

And just a funny aside. The Dell was stolen a few months ago by theives who broke into our offices. They took our Dell monitors and a Dell Precision workstation but left my $2000 Powermac G5 the Dell monitor was plugged into. Go figure.

I got a 23" cinema to replace the Dell.

I could go one, but the list would be too long.

So what's it like being stuck in two years ago? Is the Palm Pre still a hot item? LOL

As far as implementing new tech to enhance the gaming experience, I'm perfectly happy to leave it it Apple and their partners. I'm pretty sure they've got it all planned out (and easily paid for) for the next 2-3 years.

Apple has this weird habit of continuing to develop the landmark products they release. Shocking, I know.

On screen buttons and dpads are terrible. Street fighter on the iphone was really hard to control. Buttons are a requirement for any gaming console.

    They're just ****ing sunglasses...

That's what I thought, but I have seen some in the $300 to $400 dollar range, more with precious stones (actually, much much more).

These cool ones are $250 to $400 and quite nice, but so not me. I could never get enticed into high end, multi-purpose glasses unless they came bundled with OS X and I could navigate through it using just my mind. :)
